ADATA Unveils Ambitious $100 Million Investment in Cutting-edge Technology Plant in Cambodia

ADATA Technology Co., Ltd., a globally renowned Taiwanese DRAM memory manufacturer, has officially declared its commitment to a staggering US$100 million investment in various electronic products within the country. The announcement came during a press conference at Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra on 14 December 2023, attended by HE Nim Vannak, CEO of ACE Group, and Mr Chen Chien Wen, representative of ADATA Technology Co., Ltd.

As part of its strategic expansion plan, ADATA is set to channel the initial US$100 million investment, followed by an additional US$500 million in the second year. The focus lies on establishing a cutting-edge processing plant dedicated to electronic products, USB hard drives, and other electronic components slated for export to the European market. This ambitious endeavour is poised not only to broaden market reach but also to generate employment opportunities for tens of thousands of Cambodians, as highlighted by HE Nim Vannak.

Furthermore, ADATA revealed comprehensive investment plans encompassing the construction of an electronics processing plant and a high-tech industrial park in Cambodia from 2024 to 2027, reflecting a long-term commitment to fostering technological innovation and economic growth in the region.

Citing the robust economic performance of Cambodia, with a growth rate reaching 6.1% according to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), ADATA expressed confidence in the kingdom’s potential as a strategic investment destination. Cambodia’s advantageous factors, such as foreign exchange control, minimal risk of major natural disasters, and export tax exemption policies, were underscored by the company representative as key considerations for choosing Cambodia.

The welcomed investment of ADATA Technology Co., Ltd. in Cambodia has ignited a wave of anticipation, with HE Nim Vannak acknowledging the pivotal role of a dedicated team of legal professionals currently navigating the intricacies of the required legal procedures. The objective is to facilitate the seamless application for a carbon investment license.

“ADATA Technology’s investment in Cambodia will promote further development of Cambodia’s science and technology sector, promote national economic growth, create jobs, and increase income for Cambodians at all levels,” she said.

The commitment from ADATA Technology, an international powerhouse with operational bases in the United States, China, India, and other nations, was born in 2001 in Taiwan with an initial investment of approximately US$94.5 million. Renowned as the largest manufacturer of DRAM and SSDs in Asia and holding the second position globally with a market value exceeding US$945 million, ADATA’s venture into Cambodia marks a strategic move in sync with the kingdom’s burgeoning economic landscape.
