ADB provides a US$60m loan to build more infrastructure in Battambang

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has provided almost US$60 million to develop more infrastructure in Battambang.

According to Battambang City Governor Leang Veasna on 9 February, the fund will be used for drainage system planning and repair of urban roads.

The fund will be handed over to local authorities to implement the construction of underground sewers in the east and west of Stung Sangke in Battambang.

During the French colonial period, the sewer system was built for only more than 800 families, while now the city has a population of more than 160,000 people. Thus, the existing system is no longer capable, especially during the rainy season.

After the construction underground drainage system is done the road upgrade will be implemented later.

The project timeline is set for at least one year.
