By the first half of 2024, the Cambodian government has successfully connected the water supply network to more than 1.3 million households, out of a total of 3.555 million houses across the country. This achievement, assuming one connection per house, marks a significant milestone in Cambodia’s infrastructure development, according to Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation, 2024.

According to the report, Cambodia’s water supply capacity has seen a substantial increase of 32%, from approximately 309 million cubic metres in 2018 to around 460 million cubic metres in 2023. Additionally, the number of households receiving clean water under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation surged by 66%, from over 780,000 households in 2018 to more than 1.3 million households in 2023.

The Ministry of Industry has also launched a comprehensive master plan on water supply aimed at achieving 100% clean water coverage by 2030. This initiative is designed to promote the provision of clean water services that are of high quality, safe, sustainable, and affordable. It also serves as a key factor in attracting both national and international private sector investment to foster quality business production in Cambodia.
