Cambodia and Switzerland Forge Partnership to Enhance Semiconductor Manufacturing Expertise

In a significant development for the future of the semiconductor industry, Cambodia’s Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications (MPT) has entered into an agreement with Swiss semiconductor giant STMicroelectronics to bolster human resources in semiconductor manufacturing. This partnership aims to lay the groundwork for a robust semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem in Cambodia.

The agreement was formalized during a meeting on September 15, 2025, between HE Chea Vandet, Minister of Posts and Telecommunications, and top executives from STMicroelectronics, including President and Chief Financial Officer Lorenzo Grandi, and Bertrand Stolz, Vice President of Corporate Finance and Public Affairs for Asia.

During their discussions, Minister Vandet and the STMicroelectronics leadership emphasized the critical role of semiconductor technology in driving digital transformation. They recognized the importance of fostering talent and expertise as a foundational step towards developing a sustainable production chain in this vital sector.

STMicroelectronics is renowned as one of the leading semiconductor companies globally, with its headquarters in Switzerland. The company operates extensively across Europe and Asia, serving high-profile clients such as Apple, Tesla, Bosch, and HP.

This collaborative effort signifies a promising step towards not only enhancing Cambodia’s technological capabilities but also establishing it as a key player in the semiconductor manufacturing arena. The initiative underlines the shared commitment of both parties to invest in human capital, paving the way for a thriving semiconductor ecosystem in the region.
