Prime Ministers Hun Manet and Sonexay Siphandone reaffirm strategic partnership to enhance energy security and regional connectivity

Cambodia and Laos have formally committed to a strategic roadmap aimed at elevating their bilateral trade volume to $700 million by the year 2030. This ambitious goal was the centerpiece of high-level discussions between Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, and His Excellency Sonexay Siphandone, Prime Minister of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, during their meeting on February 7, 2026.

During the bilateral session, both leaders emphasized the importance of translating diplomatic goodwill into tangible economic benefits for the citizens of both nations. Beyond trade targets, the premiers pledged to deepen cooperation in the energy sector, focusing on securing long-term energy stability and mutual support for regional power grids.

The dialogue also served as a platform to review and expand cooperation across a broad spectrum of vital sectors. These include political and diplomatic relations, investment, banking, and agriculture. Furthermore, the leaders underscored the need for enhanced people-to-people exchanges and more robust infrastructure connectivity, which are seen as essential pillars for sustaining the growth momentum between the two neighboring countries.
