China Aims to Attract 100 More Companies to Invest in Zhejiang SEZ in Koh Kong by 2024

China’s Zhejiang Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Koh Kong is set to attract 100 more companies by 2024, adding to the 28 currently investing there. This strategic goal was highlighted during a meeting between Mr. Chea Vuthy, Secretary General of the Investment Committee of Cambodia, and Mr. Zhou Zhangjin, Chairman of Zhejiang SEZ, along with 11 Chinese delegates on 21 June 2024.

Mr. Zhangjin shared that the Koh Kong Zhejiang SEZ, located in Sre Ambel District, Koh Kong Province, is actively working to boost investment in the region, with a target to host 100 companies by 2024. The development plans include establishing a language and technical skills training centre to enhance human resource development.

Furthermore, Zhangjin emphasized the critical need for a sustainable electricity supply, efficient transportation systems, and a supportive industry infrastructure to ensure a robust supply chain for the SEZ’s development.

The Koh Kong Zhejiang SEZ has expanded to cover an area of 1,000 hectares, significantly larger than the initial 30-hectare Zhejiang SEZ. The Cambodian government granted the rights to establish the Koh Kong Zhejiang SEZ in May 2024, located in Sre Ambel district, Koh Kong province. This development marks a significant step in boosting economic growth and attracting foreign investment to the country, enhancing its industrial capabilities and providing new opportunities for local and international businesses.
