CRBC to Conduct Study on Phnom Penh-Siem Reap Expressway Project

China Bridge and Road Corporation (CRBC) has expressed its interest in conducting a feasibility study for the third expressway project connecting Phnom Penh to Siem Reap. The CRBC submitted a letter to the Ministry of Public Works and Transport on 24 March 2023, to initiate the study, per letter No. 1335.

The letter stated that the Chinese construction giant will commence the study of the construction of the third expressway from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap soon. In response, the Ministry requested the Provincial Governor to assist and facilitate all relevant units and local authorities to cooperate with the CRBC for the smooth progress of the project.

HE Sun Chanthol, the Minister of Public Works and Transport, had previously confirmed that the Phnom Penh-Siem Reap Expressway Study Project is set to sign the Framework Agreement in September 2023. With the new developments, the project will likely move forward, bringing a new era of development and connectivity between the two major cities in Cambodia.

The proposed Phnom Penh-Siem Reap Expressway is expected to boost tourism and commerce, further strengthening Cambodia’s position as an important regional economic hub. (Read more)
