Darasakor International Airport Opens, Ushering in a New Era for Koh Kong Province

Koh Kong Province celebrated a landmark achievement with the inauguration a $200 million Darasakor International Airport on 26 December 202. This state-of-the-art facility invested by the Chinese company Union Development Group spanning 218 hectares in the Botum Sakor district, is poised to transform the region’s connectivity and catalyse economic and tourism growth.

The airport’s grand opening featured the arrival of its first domestic charter flight, celebrated with a traditional Krong Pali ceremony led by HE Dr Mao Havannal, Minister in charge of the Secretariat of State for Civil Aviation. This milestone highlights the airport’s critical role in boosting intra-country travel and fostering regional integration.

Designed to handle 4E category aircraft, the airport is capable of accommodating small to medium-sized planes, making it a key player in Cambodia’s aviation development. Prior to its inauguration, Darasakor International Airport underwent rigorous two-day test operations on 29 and 30 September 2024 to ensure its readiness for public use. (Read more)
