Gov’t Approves 116 Non-SEZ Investment Projects & Over 3,000 Construction Projects in 10 Months

During the first 10 months of 2022, the Cambodian government approved 116 non-special economic zone investment projects, an increase of 24 projects. During the same period, 3,407 construction projects were also approved, a decrease of 191 projects, according to a report on socio-economic trends of the Ministry of Economy and Finance issued on 13 December. 

According to the report, the Council for the Development of Cambodia approved investment projects outside the SEZ with a total investment of US$2,758 million, up 136.6% compared to the same period last year. 

The approved investment projects generated about 105,000 new jobs, an increase of 43.3%. 

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction approved construction projects with a total investment of US$2.19 billion, decreasing 57.2% from the same period last year. 

Of these, 3,018 are residential projects, accounting for 88.58% of the total construction requests, a year-on-year decrease of 91 projects from the same period last year.
