Japan Provides Grant Aid to Develop Infrastructure in Three Provinces

Japan has provided a total of US$527,122 grant aid through the KUSANONE program for the construction of bridges in Kandal and Kratie, and irrigation facilities in Banteay Meanchey.

The grant contracts were signed on 1 March between Japan Ambassador to Cambodia Mikami Masahiro and the representatives of the three recipients respectively, to carry out the following projects.

The first project is for the construction of a concrete bridge in Lerk Daek commune, Kaoh Thom district, Kandal province worth US$123,835 to benefit over 7,000 people in the zone.

The second project for constructing a bridge in Chitr Borei District, Kratie Province worth US$136,791 to facilitate the transportation of agricultural products and daily commute of more than 3,000 people.

The third project is for rehabilitating Tean Kam Irrigation Facility in Banteay Meanchey province worth US$266,496. This last project is expected to improve the everyday life of more than 44,000 people in the project area.

KUSANONE started in Cambodia in 1991 with the aim to reconstruct and develop Cambodia at the grassroots level. Over 30 years, Japan has provided over US$65 million to implement 668 KUSANONE projects.
