Kampong Thom to Welcome New Cashew Industrial Park Following Swift Approval by PM

Kampong Thom province is set to establish a transformative cashew industrial park following PM Samdech Hun Manet’s swift approval just one day after the proposal was submitted.

Announced during the closing ceremony of the 2024 work review and the 2025 planning session of the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning, and Construction on 26 November 2024, this landmark initiative aims to stimulate economic growth and create significant local employment opportunities.

PM Hun Manet emphasized the project’s collaborative framework, with the government allocating land while the private sector leads the investment. He described the industrial park as a pivotal development for Kampong Thom, aiming to generate jobs and establish an agro-industrial hub to enhance the region’s economic landscape.

“This cashew industrial park will alleviate economic pressure on the local population while strengthening Kampong Thom’s position as an agro-industrial leader,” he stated.

To maximize the impact of this initiative, the PM urged provincial authorities to engage proactively with foreign investors and seek additional opportunities for economic diversification.

“By effectively utilizing our resources and fostering an investor-friendly environment, we can position Cambodia as a premier investment destination,” he added.

The industrial park is expected to significantly boost cashew production and processing capabilities, integrating the local workforce into a sustainable economic model. Its establishment marks a promising new chapter for Kampong Thom’s development, aligning with Cambodia’s broader goals for regional economic enhancement and job creation.
