Cambodian Delegation meets with Medline to Discuss on Medical Equipment Supply

In a significant step towards boosting Cambodia’s healthcare sector, H.E. Sun Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice Chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), held a productive meeting with Rob Calia, Vice President and Head of Government Affairs at Medline. The two parties discussed potential investment opportunities in Cambodia’s burgeoning medical equipment manufacturing industry.

During the meeting, H.E. Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol highlighted several compelling advantages for Medline to consider, including Cambodia’s emergence as a promising manufacturing hub for exports. He emphasized the country’s new investment law, which offers robust incentives specifically tailored for the high-tech and healthcare sectors. Moreover, the Deputy Prime Minister noted that Cambodia provides access to major global markets, including the United States, the European Union, China, and Korea.

In addition to the favorable investment climate, H.E. Sun Chanthol showcased the potential of Cambodia’s young and trainable workforce, which is well-suited to meet the demands of the medical manufacturing sector. He urged Medline to expand its range of medical products made in Cambodia and to seriously consider establishing manufacturing facilities within the country.

The Deputy Prime Minister also highlighted opportunities for Medline to produce high-demand products, such as gloves, single-use non-woven surgical supplies, and personal protective equipment (PPE), to diversify the company’s supply chains across Southeast Asia. He explained that Medline’s investment could not only create jobs but also enhance the development of Cambodia’s healthcare sector through the implementation of advanced manufacturing techniques.

Medline, one of the largest privately held companies in the United States, specializes in the production and distribution of over 335,000 medical devices and healthcare products, bolstering global supply chain solutions for healthcare institutions.

As discussions progress, stakeholders remain optimistic about the potential collaboration, which could significantly contribute to the growth and modernization of Cambodia’s healthcare industry while providing quality products to meet local and international demand.
