More Than 60 Chinese Investors Eye Cambodia’s Five Lucrative Sectors

More than 60 delegates from China are actively exploring investment opportunities across various sectors in Cambodia, signalling a significant bilateral cooperation effort.

Led by Jonathan K.S. Choi, President of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce, Coastal Entrepreneurs Alliance, and Sunwa Group, the delegation, comprising entrepreneurs from Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao, expressed keen interest in Cambodia’s burgeoning digital, energy, real estate, manufacturing, and processing industries. This engagement underscores a concerted effort to bolster economic ties between the two nations, as reported on 9 April 2024.

During discussions with Lok Chumteav Chamnimol, Minister of Commerce, Mr. Choi articulated the delegation’s commitment to deepening collaboration with Cambodia across multiple sectors. He sought clarification from the Cambodian government on trade-related terms to facilitate smoother investment processes. Minister Chamnimol reiterated Cambodia’s readiness to engage with investors and pledged support for initiatives aimed at enhancing bilateral economic cooperation.

The Ministry of Commerce reaffirmed its commitment to fostering a conducive environment for investors, emphasising collaboration to streamline trade frameworks and promote greater synergy between Cambodia and China.

As the dialogue between the two nations intensifies, Cambodia stands poised to capitalize on the influx of Chinese interest, leveraging these partnerships to drive sustainable economic growth and prosperity for both countries.
