Canada Explores Investment Opportunities in Cambodia’s Public Works & Transport Sector

 

A Canadian trade mission has recently arrived in Cambodia to explore potential investment opportunities in the nation’s public works and transport sector. This initiative aims to foster collaboration between the two countries, enhancing infrastructure development in Cambodia.

On 29 May 2025, HE Peng Po Nea, the Minister of Public Works and Transport, met with Ponora Ang, Partner and Co-Chair of the Asia-Pacific Group of Fasken Martineau DuMoulin LLP (Fasken), alongside the Canadian trade delegation. The meeting served as a platform to discuss trade investment and cooperation, focusing on strengthening ties between the Cambodian Ministry and Canada in the public works and transport domain.

The ongoing discussions reflect a broader commitment to enhance infrastructure and transportation capabilities in Cambodia, positioning the country as an attractive destination for foreign investment.

In related news, the public works and transport sector is also garnering interest from Japan. A significant development occurred on 28 May 2025, when Prime Minister Hun Manet met with Mr. Maeda Tadashi, President and CEO of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), in Tokyo. During this meeting, JBIC expressed its intent to explore cooperative opportunities regarding transport infrastructure projects in Cambodia. (Read more)
