New Cement Factory Project Proposed for Battambang Province

A new cement factory is planned to be established in Battambang province, according to the Cambodian Cement Manufacturing Association.

Puth Chandarith, Secretary-General of the Cambodian Cement Manufacturing Association, said that the cement factory is to be located near the existing Battambang Conch Cement Co Ltd. cement factory.

“This new factory in Battambang is an investment by a Chinese company. If this project comes into reality, Cambodia will have another factory in addition to the existing five,” he said.

However, Mr Chandarith did not provide details of the new cement plant, citing that the Ministry of Mines and Energy will release details later when they are ready.

Currently, there are five cement manufacturers in Cambodia – Chip Mong Insee Cement Corp, Kampot Cement Co Ltd, Cambodia Cement Chakrey Ting Factory Co Ltd, Battambang Conch Cement Co Ltd and Thai Boom Roong Cement Co Ltd.

According to the association, in 2021, these five cement factories produced nearly 8 million tons of cement, similar to the production volume in 2020.
