The grand inauguration of the new maternity ward at the 7th Jayavarman Hospital in Siem Reap, known as Kantha Bopha III Hospital, took place on 14 February 2024. Valued at a staggering US$3 million, the cutting-edge facility aims to elevate maternal and infant healthcare standards in the province.

HE Professor Chheang Ra, Minister of Health and Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Kantha Bopha Foundation of Cambodia, presided over the ceremony, underscoring the significance of this milestone. The newly unveiled maternity ward, built for the second time, encompasses 120 beds, including a dedicated section with 40 beds for newborn first aid, operational since 8 March 2023.

Spanning three stories and covering an expansive area of 1,500 square meters within the hospital’s 5.5-hectare premises, the state-of-the-art maternity ward represents a crucial investment of US$2.5 million. An additional US$500,000 will be allocated for essential medical equipment, further enhancing the facility’s capabilities.

Funded under the Kantha Bopha Swiss Foundation, this project aligns with the broader mission to address maternal and infant mortality rates, emphasizing financial assistance, equity support, and the implementation of social protection policies, in collaboration with the Cambodian government.
