Mondulkiri Provincial Referral Hospital Unveils US$90k Ophthalmology Building

A significant milestone in healthcare was celebrated with the official inauguration of the ophthalmology building at Mondulkiri Provincial Referral Hospital, valued at nearly US$90,000. The momentous occasion took place during a ceremony presided over by HE Dr Ly Chhuong, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Health, on 15 January 2024.

Dr Tuy Sros, the Director of Mondulkiri Provincial Referral Hospital, shared details about the extensive renovation and equipping of the vision building, a project made possible through the generous support of the Eye Care Foundation with a funding amount of US$84,973. The renovation, initiated on 2 August 2023, reached completion on 24 November 2023, showcasing a commitment to advancing eye care services in the province.

The comprehensive renovation includes a total investment of US$31,258 for the building’s overhaul and an additional US$53,515 for state-of-the-art visual equipment. Mondulkiri Provincial Referral Hospital contributed US$1,000 towards this transformative project. The newly inaugurated vision building boasts modern facilities, including a rest room, four beds, a measurement and cutting room, a consultation room, an operating room, and a steam room.

During the inauguration ceremony, HE Dr Ly Chhuong expressed gratitude for the Eye Care Foundation’s crucial role in funding this project. He highlighted the significance of the ophthalmology building, equipped with advanced technology, in providing essential eye care services such as medical examinations, measurements, spectacles, and eye surgeries. This development stands as a testament to the commitment to healthcare excellence in the Northeast region.
