Over 50 Private Firms Show Interest in Cambodia’s Infrastructure Investment

More than 50 national and international companies have recently expressed interest in investing in Cambodia’s infrastructure, according to an online meeting between the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT) and those firms on 07 April.

MPWT Minister HE Sun Chanthol, in response, fully supported and welcomed all investments related to infrastructure. The minister has also committed to working closely with the private sector to further build and expand infrastructure in Cambodia.

“With strong cooperation with the private sector, the government has been thus far achieving many infrastructure projects, and will continue to build more,” said HE Chanthol.

In fact, in 2020 alone, there were many projects launched. These include the 34-road renovation road project in Sihanoukville, the 38-road road project in Siem Reap province, the road construction project from Battambang to Koh Kong province, Ring Road 4, and a shortcut route from Battambang to Siem Reap province, among others. In addition, two other projects including the 96-kilometre NR11 and the 1,131 metre Stueng Trang-Kroch Chmar bridge have also recently been completed and opened for public usage.

HE Sun Chanthol also affirmed that the connection of these road infrastructure networks will play a significant role in boosting the kingdom’s economy.
