Chinese Investor Zhongjiao Tongli Expands Agricultural Ventures in Ratanakkiri & Mondulkiri

China’s Zhongjiao Tongli has announced plans to invest in large-scale cultivation of bananas and mangoes across Cambodia’s northeastern provinces of Ratanakkiri and Mondulkiri, signaling a significant boost for the nation’s agricultural sector.

The announcement followed a meeting between PM Hun Manet and Mr. Zhongdi Sun, President of Zhongjiao Tongli, on 6 November 2024, in Kunming, Yunnan province, China.

During the meeting, Mr. Sun detailed the company’s commitment to advancing commercial agriculture in Cambodia alongside clean energy and intelligent transportation initiatives. Headquartered in Xi’an, Zhongjiao Tongli has established a strong presence in the local market. It aims to strengthen its agricultural operations in the northeastern provinces known for their fertile lands and ideal climate for high-value crop production.

PM Hun Manet welcomed the investment plans, highlighting the government’s prioritization of the agricultural sector as a cornerstone of Cambodia’s economy. He encouraged Zhongjiao Tongli to collaborate closely with the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, and the Development Council of Cambodia to ensure the success of their projects.

In support of such ventures, the PM announced forthcoming policies to foster investment in Ratanakkiri and Mondulkiri, inviting other potential investors to seize the region’s untapped opportunities. These initiatives are expected to enhance the provinces’ agricultural output and further attract international investments, strengthening Cambodia’s role in global agricultural supply chains.
