The new road connecting NR No. 4 to Bokor Mountain has completed 7 km of concrete pouring work

The construction of a new 61-kilometre road connecting National Road No. 4 to Bokor Mountain is currently underway, with 7 kilometres of concrete pouring completed as of December 19, 2024. This update was posted on the official Facebook page of Sokha Real Estate on the afternoon of that date.

According to the project plan developed by the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, the road will feature 200 mm thick concrete and be 20 meters wide. It will include a 7-meter-wide lane for cars, a 6-meter-wide lane for motorbikes, and an additional 3.5-meter buffer space on each side. The concrete pouring began after the new road was finalized on April 1. (Read more)

Once completed, this road will serve as a crucial link for local residents travelling along the foothills of Kamchay. It will facilitate access from the coastal areas of Kampong Seila, Sre Ampil, and Prey Nob districts to Bokor Mountain. The new road is expected to enhance local livelihoods, stimulate investment activities, and boost tourism at the Bokor resort by significantly reducing travel times for visitors from the country’s north and west. Travellers will no longer need to make the lengthy journey through Kampot to reach Bokor Mountain, as they will be able to access Monivong National Park easily from the oil palm plantation of Duke Mong Rithy, just 61 kilometres away.

This new road starts from National Road No. 4 at kilometre 158 + 291 in Kampong Seila commune, Prey Nob district, Preah Sihanouk province. It extends to Bokor Mountain and passes by 500 rice fields. The Royal Government approved the construction, assigned to Sokha Real Estate Co., Ltd., in February 2022. (Read more)
