This state-of-the-art factory, which has garnered investment capital amounting to US$36,781,000, employs 150 individuals. It specialises in assembling two of Toyota’s flagship models: the FORTUNER SUV and the HILUX Pick-Up. For the year 2024, the plant is set to assemble 1,320 vehicles to meet the burgeoning market demand, including 290 FORTUNER cars and 1,030 HILUX cars.

The inauguration of Toyota’s assembly plant adds a significant milestone to Cambodia’s growing automotive industry, which now boasts six domestic car assembly plants.

  1. The first of these was established by DAEHAN AUTO (CAMBODIA) CO., LTD. in 2022 in Svay Rieng province, focusing on SAMYUNG car production.
  2. This was closely followed by the initiation of RMA AUTOMOTIVE (CAMBODIA) CO LTD in Pursat province, also in 2022, for FORD car production.
  3. Subsequent establishments include CAMKO MOTOR CO., LTD. in Koh Kong province for HYUNDAI car production.
  4. HGB MOTORS ASSEMBLY CO., LTD. in Banteay Meanchey province for KIA car production in 2023, and
  5. GTV MOTOR CO., LTD in Kandal province, which is currently in the testing phase.

This expansion underscores Cambodia’s ambition to become a key player in the regional automotive manufacturing and assembly landscape, with the Toyota assembly plant poised to play a pivotal role in this industrial evolution.
