EuroCham CSR Contest 2021 Launched, Construction Firms Urged to Join

The European Chamber of Commerce (EuroCham) in Cambodia launched the CSR Contest and Awards 2021 last week, with both Cambodian entities and foreign businesses, especially within the construction and property sectors, being urged to participate.

Officially announced on 10 February, the CSR Contest and Awards 2021 is a Cambodia’s most prestigious CSR recognition award event organised biennially by EuroCham Cambodia.

EuroCham Chairman Tassilo Brinzer said a press conference for the event that the main objective of the CSR Contest and Awards is to provide the opportunity for the private sector in the kingdom to showcase their CSR efforts and create more positive impacts on society.

He added that the event this year is not limited to EuroCham members or to the exclusive domain of larger corporations but also open for all the Cambodian SMEs who wish to accomplish positive social and environmental changes.

HE Sok Chenda Sophea, Minister attached to the Prime Minister and Secretary of the Council for Development of Cambodia, said that the benefits of participating in this program are not only the awards but also the sign to attract more qualified human resources to the firms.

“Besides, the program also demonstrates the positive signal to foreign investors that Cambodia also values social responsibility activities. As a result, we will attract more foreign investment. Thus, I really urge that all companies to participate in the contest,” said HE Sok Chenda Sophea.

Another unique aspect of the EuroCham CSR Contest and Awards 2021 is the introduction of a second main category called “Youth engagement”, a move to recognise the innovators of tomorrow and an initiative to creating a nexus with the industry leaders of today.

While the entire contest consists of 14 prizes over two main categories, the corporate category has 4 subcategories and 12 prizes, and the new Youth category will contain 1 category with 2 prizes.

All companies registered in Cambodia, youth associations or individuals younger than 25 living in Cambodia that want to be recognised for their CSR work or community engagement are welcome to apply.

The contest registration is open from 01-31 March 2021.
