Government to issue ID cards to Cambodians living abroad

Cambodians living abroad can apply for Cambodian identity cards which will enable them easily in doing business, investment, or buy and sell real estate in Cambodia.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of Cambodia said in a meeting with Cambodians living in Europe on the 21 May that the Cambodian identity cards will make it easier for those living abroad to buy houses, land, and do business in Cambodia.

“It is necessary because some people do not have identity cards when buying land in Cambodia, they cannot own those properties, they instead rely on relatives or others,” Samdech Techo Hun Sen said.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen stated that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Ministry of Interior work on the ID issuance to Cambodians living abroad.
