Gov’t Mulls Allocating 1,000 hectares for Poor Families in Battambang Province

The Battambang Provincial Administration has been preparing over 1,000 hectares of land to give to poor citizens and those living in the Phnom Samkos Wildlife Sanctuary and Samlot multi-purpose area, according to the National Radio of Cambodia on 29 March.

Director of the Battambang Provincial Department of Environment Mr Kot Boran said that the working group is assessing and studying the land plot at the moment. The plot is approximately 1,000 hectares and located in Kampong Lpou village in Samlot district.

After the study is completed, the local authorities will send the proposal to the government for approval.

Battambang Governor HE Nguon Rattanak said that the local authorities shall strictly manage the land in this area to avoid illegal encroaching before distributing it to the target groups.
