Ground broken on first river dam at Khmer – Thai border in Battambang

Ground was broken on the Mongkul Borei River dam, the first-ever dam built at the Khmer – Thai border area, on 04 March, marking another rural infrastructure development in Battambang province.

The dam is located in Mneas Kal and Kampong Chamlong Krom village in Kamrieng district.

The groundbreaking ceremony was presided over by Battambang Governor HE Nguon Rattanak and representatives of other relevant ministries.

Construction on the dam is scheduled to be completed by September 2021. Once operational, the dam will have the capacity to irrigate approximately 2,000 hectares of agricultural land within Battambong province.

According to the governor, besides this project, Battambang province also has many other dams that have been built and are under construction.

Those completed projects include Sek Sak multi-purpose dam in Rattanak Mondul district and Kanhat dam in Banan district.

Meanwhile, the under-construction projects are Dontry Dam in Rukkiri District and Sala Ta On Dam in Ek Phnom district. (Read more and more)
