Groundbreaking Ceremony for New Schools in Kampong Thom Province

In a significant development for local education, the Kampong Thom provincial administration, in partnership with the Cambodian Oknha Association, has officially launched the construction of five new school buildings valued at over USD 1.2 million. The groundbreaking ceremony took place on July 12, 2025, and was led by His Excellency Nuon Pharath, the Governor of Kampong Thom Province, alongside Oknha Leang Meng from the provincial school building construction working group, and a representative of Oknha Ly Yong Phat, the President of the Cambodian Oknha Association.

The ambitious project includes a variety of educational facilities aimed at enhancing learning environments in the region. Triel High School is set to receive a modern three-story building featuring 30 classrooms. Kokho Primary School will benefit from a two-story building comprising 10 classrooms. Additionally, the other institutions—Hun Sen Chhouk Chi Preah Primary School, Oknha Association Primary School in O Sambour, and the primary school in Phum Thmei—will each receive single-story buildings with five classrooms.

This initiative is part of the Cambodian Oknha Association’s 2025 charity program, themed “Together for Education.” Through this program, nearly 2 million baht has been mobilized in funds and materials to construct school buildings and improve other essential infrastructure. Furthermore, the program aims to provide school supplies, clothing, and transportation for teachers and students across ten schools, with the five newly supported schools being the primary beneficiaries.

Officials highlight that these new facilities will not only improve access to education but also contribute to the overall development of the community, empowering the next generation with better learning opportunities.
