Cambodia’s Industrial Sector Begins to Bounce Back Post Pandemic

Cambodia’s industrial sector has continued to show promising growth, with 1,982 manufacturing factories operating in 2022 and producing a total output of $15,834 million. This represents an impressive 83% increase from the previous year.

HE Cham Prasidh, Senior Minister and Minister of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation, revealed these figures at the annual meeting to review and set objectives for 2022 on February 28th. He also reported that $11.4 billion worth of products were exported abroad, while $4.35 billion were sold on the domestic market.

The industrial sector has created over 1 million jobs, which is a 4% increase from the previous year. Moreover, the factories have attracted a total investment of $16.69 billion, indicating a substantial increase of almost 21%.

HE Cham Prasidh emphasised that the industrial sector has demonstrated resilience and stability even in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, which previously disrupted factory operations and reduced some orders. Despite the challenges, Cambodia’s industrial sector has continued to remain strong and contribute to the country’s economic growth. (Read more)
