International Economic Company Partners with Cambodia to Boost Smart Tourism and Hotel Management Training

In a significant move to enhance the tourism sector, the International Economic and Technical Cooperation Company, which boasts over 500 branches across China, has announced plans to sign a memorandum of understanding with the Cambodian Ministry of Tourism. This partnership aims to advance the training of professionals in smart tourism and hotel management.

The announcement came during a meeting on October 23, 2025, between H.E. Huot Hak, Minister of Tourism, and Ms. Hu Heng, Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs of the International Economic and Technical Cooperation Company. The discussion focused on collaborative efforts in vocational education and training tailored to meet the evolving needs of the market, particularly in the areas of smart tourism and hotel management.

Minister Huot Hak expressed strong support for the company’s initiative, emphasizing the importance of enhancing human resources within Cambodia’s tourism sector. He highlighted the critical role of training educators and industry professionals, which would ultimately improve the quality of education and generate additional income opportunities for students.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Tourism and the company agreed to develop specialized training programs for Chinese language guides and to establish more courses for tour guides. This initiative aims to cater to the growing influx of Chinese tourists, ensuring that the tourism experience is both welcoming and informative. Additionally, they will collaborate with Chinese partners to organize major tourism exchange conferences and international professional education opportunities in Cambodia.

Recent statistics show a vibrant tourism landscape in Cambodia, with over 4 million international tourists and 17.28 million domestic travelers recorded in the first eight months of 2025. This marks a nearly 53% increase compared to the same period in 2024, highlighting the continued growth and potential of the Cambodian tourism sector.

This partnership not only reflects a commitment to quality education but also underscores the importance of adapting to current market trends, ensuring that Cambodia remains a competitive and attractive destination for travelers worldwide.
