Japan Unveils Vision for Establishing Khmer Village in Japan to Foster Cultural Exchange

In a bid to foster cultural exchange and strengthen the enduring friendship between Japan and Cambodia, Kojima Holdings Co., Ltd., a prominent Japanese entity, has announced its visionary plan to establish a Khmer village in the scenic Canaagawa province. This transformative initiative was unveiled during a significant meeting between Samdech Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia, and Kojima Masanobu, Chairman of Kojima Holdings Co., Ltd., held in Tokyo as part of the 50th ASEAN-Japanese anniversary celebrations from 15-19 December 2023.

Chairman Kojima Masanobu shared the ambitious project’s blueprint, articulating the incorporation of Khmer cultural elements into the fabric of Japanese traditions. This innovative venture seeks not only to enrich the cultural landscape in Japan but also to fortify the enduring bonds between the people of the two nations.

As a testament to its commitment, Kojima Holdings Co., Ltd. simultaneously inaugurated the Cambodian Private Trade Centre in Aenoagan Province, serving as a pivotal hub for trade and investment activities. The center is poised to contribute significantly to human resource training, fostering business coordination, and promoting bilateral economic growth. (Read more)

In tandem with this cultural exchange initiative, Pharma Foods International Co., Ltd. (PFI) expressed its keen interest in expanding its investments in Cambodia, focusing on the agricultural sector. PFI, known for its diversified production lines encompassing clothing, cosmetics, and food items derived from eggs, is set to contribute to Cambodia’s agricultural development.

Additionally, Ehime Package conveyed its intentions to venture into Cambodia’s industrial landscape, with a particular emphasis on the paper export industry. This move underscores the growing allure of Cambodia as an investment destination for Japanese businesses, reflecting positively on bilateral economic relations.
