Japan Prime Minister to Continue Assisting Cambodia in Developing Prioritised Sectors

The Prime Minister of Japan Kishida Fumio said that Japan will continue to help Cambodia develop prioritised sectors, especially the infrastructure, industry, technology segments.

HE Kishida Fumio made the remarks during a meeting with Cambodian PM Samdech Hun Sen in Phnom Penh on 20 March.

The two sides agreed to fully cooperate to make Sihanoukville Port a major port not only for Cambodia but for the Mekong region and the world.

Japan will also continue to explore new opportunities for Cambodia’s sustainable growth, infrastructure development in particular.

Under the ASIA-Japan Investing for the Future Initiative, the two prime ministers consented to foster the development of high-skilled industrial human resources, especially in the field of manufacturing and digital technology.

The Japanese PM also expressed his interest in helping Cambodia establish a secure energy transition in Cambodia and building a roadmap to carbon neutrality in collaboration with JICA and knowledge sharing through the Asia CCUS Network.
