Kampong Speu province has officially launched the reconstruction of Road No. 130A, a key local transport link spanning 8.5 kilometers in length and 7 meters in width. Presided over by Kampong Speu Provincial Governor HE Cheam Chansophorn on August 24, 2026, the groundbreaking ceremony marks the formal start of upgrading the thoroughfare to a Double Bituminous Surface Treatment (DBST) asphalt standard, designed to enhance regional logistics and facilitate public travel.

According to technical reports from the Kampong Speu Provincial Department of Public Works and Transport, the road traverses Prey Nheat and Veal communes in Kong Pisei district. The corridor currently comprises an existing 1-kilometer concrete section alongside a 2-kilometer DBST paved stretch previously constructed by Ut Thy Company. The newly initiated project specifically targets the remaining 5.5-kilometer segment, which had experienced severe structural deterioration reaching deep into the foundation layers. Because this section was not included under the department’s routine maintenance program, a comprehensive repair and modernization effort was deemed essential to restore safe transport conditions.

Speaking at the event, Governor Cheam Chansophorn underscored Kampong Speu’s accelerating economic growth across key sectors including agriculture, mining and energy, manufacturing, and eco-tourism. He noted that expanding industrial footprints continue to attract foreign investment and create abundant employment opportunities for local residents, making reliable road networks imperative for provincial development. To safeguard public infrastructure investment, the governor called on community members to respect road rights-of-way and avoid land encroachment or illegal construction along road shoulders, ensuring the project meets strict technical specifications for maximum longevity.
