83 hectares of Beoung Ta Mok granted to Phnom Penh Municipality

Beoung Ta Mok (Beoung Khob Srov), a vast water area of 83 hectares in the northwest of the capital was granted to Phnom Penh Municipality to be developed as a national garden and public park. The municipality also plans to develop other infrastructure such as the buildings of the Central Department of Security of the National Police at the Ministry of Interior.

The 83-hectare plot is divided into two parts. The first 8-hectare section of Beuong Ta Mok will be used for buildings and infrastructure development for the National Police Commissariat of the Ministry of Interior.

The Government has agreed to provide the second part of 75 hectares to develop infrastructure and the national garden and a public park.

This decision is based on the letter No. 016.20 K dated 5 March 2020 of the Phnom Penh Municipal Administration, Number 128. No.2020 SEN, dated March 9, 2020, of the Prime Minister’s Office, and, according to the highest annotation of Samdech Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, dated March 8, 2020.

This huge lake encompassing 3 235.7 hectares of land area in Kork Roka commune, Prek Pnov district, Phnom Penh is state property controlled under Decree No. 20 dated February 20, 2016. Some parts of this natural lake have been used as vegetable supply market and bus parking for the suburb areas of Phnom Penh since 02 August 2016.
