Lao Company Mulls to Build 80m-Tall Buddha Statue in SHV

Data Technology Lao Sole company has announced its plans to build an impressive 80-metre Buddha statue in Preah Sihanoukville Province, Cambodia, to attract national and international tourists to the country. The announcement was made during a meeting between Wei Qianjiang, CEO of Alpha Data Technology Lao Sole Co., Ltd, and Thong Khon, Minister of Tourism of Cambodia, on 3 March 2023.

According to Qianjiang, the construction of the giant Buddha statue will help promote tourism in the coastal province of Cambodia, which has no coastal areas in Laos. Additionally, he promised to push for more direct flights connecting Laos to Preah Sihanoukville province and to promote Cambodian tourism destinations in Laos.

During the meeting, Minister Thong Khon also requested relevant parties to create more tour packages to attract Lao and Chinese tourists to visit Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, and other Cambodian coastal provinces. This initiative is expected to boost tourism in Cambodia and promote economic growth in the region.

Alpha Data Technology Lao Sole is a company that operates in a special economic zone in Laos and invests in real estate and tourism. The company’s latest plan to build the giant Buddha statue is set to be a major attraction for tourists in the area, adding to the growing number of tourism-related projects in the region.

It is also worth noting that Sokha Hotel Company of Okhna Sok Kong is currently building ASEAN’s tallest Buddha statue worth over US$30 million on Bokor mountain. This plan to build these giant Buddha statues could further enhance Cambodia’s appeal as a must-visit destination in Southeast Asia. (Read more)
