Ministry of Education: Gym and fitness centres to temporarily close due to COVID-19

All gym and fitness centres in Cambodia are to be temporarily closed to prevent the further spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. The suspension of gym and fitness businesses is to prevent and control the spread of COVID-19 in Cambodia, according to an announcement from the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports.

Pich Sok, a trainer at the Jouvance Fitness Center, told reporters that the closure of the gym is something they must do to prevent the virus as most equipment in the gym is metal.

Public gatherings, especially in entertainment places and gym centres where people physically contact each other, is a major driver for spreading the virus, according to a recent press release from Canada on nelsonstar.com.

At 07:00 on April 3, 2020, the Ministry of Health, reported that there were currently 114 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Cambodia. The total number of recovered patients had increased by 35, including 21 Cambodians. However, still, there are 79 patients in the hospital.
