Ministry of Public Works Reviews Detailed Engineering for Takhmao City Household Sewage Connections

Secretary of State Ros Vanna chairs technical meeting with Dohwa-Seoyoung consultants to manage South Korean EDCF loan financing and optimize urban sanitation standards

Phnom Penh: Designing robust household sewerage connections from individual residential origin points has emerged as an essential technical prerequisite for ensuring that urban sanitation systems function at full operational capacity and adhere to strict environmental safety standards. On Wednesday, September 30, 2026, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Public Works and Transport and Project Director Ros Vanna led the project execution team in a technical consultation meeting with representatives from the Dohwa-Seoyoung Joint Venture consultancy at the ministry headquarters. The session convened deputy project directors, project managers, and technical specialists from the General Department of Wastewater Treatment Systems alongside engineering consultants.

The meeting centered on reviewing and evaluating detailed technical engineering designs for household connections under the “Takhmao City Wastewater Treatment System Development Project” in Kandal province. This major municipal sanitation initiative is funded through a concessional loan from the Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF) of the Export-Import Bank of Korea.

Establishing a precise execution framework for household sewage connections allows project managers to contain construction costs strictly within approved loan allocations while guaranteeing the long-term operational efficiency of the Takhmao wastewater network. Once fully connected, the system will collect domestic effluent directly from residential households, channeling it to the central treatment plant for filtration in compliance with statutory environmental standards before safely discharging treated water into natural water bodies.

The technical review meeting on household connections between the Ministry of Public Works and Transport and the Dohwa-Seoyoung Joint Venture highlights rigorous management of South Korean-funded development capital. Connecting residential households directly to modern wastewater treatment infrastructure safeguards natural water bodies and public health while laying a clean, resilient foundation for Takhmao’s long-term urban growth.
