Ministry Sets Out Two Major Strategies to Ensure Water Safety in Coastal Provinces

The Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology has announced two key strategies to ensure water safety in coastal provinces. This is according to a senior official of the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology during an inspection on the management of water resources and meteorology of Koh Kong province on 16 May 2022.

HE Chan Sinath, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology, said that the successful implementation of the ministry’s activities in the past was the result of careful consideration and the good cooperation of relevant partners.

He added that in order to ensure the development of water resources and meteorology and ensure water security in the coastal provinces, the minister has set out two main strategies, including the renovation and extensive construction of the Polder Dam system in Kep, Sihanoukville, and Koh Kong provinces, and building more reservoirs to collect water from the catchment area of ​the ​Corridor.

It should be noted that through the inspection activities of water resources and meteorology of Koh Kong province, the ministry has also developed a master plan for the rehabilitation of all dams, forest protection, repair of the reservoirs on the five canals of the province, rehabilitation of the province’s five reservoirs, and rehabilitation of the province’s natural ponds and lakes to solve the province’s water security issues.
