MPWT Discussing Port Draft Law to Boost Water Logistics

The Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT) and other related institutions are discussing and reviewing the port draft law, aiming to enhance and control the water logistic system in Cambodia.

The meeting was held on 14 October and chaired by Minister of Public Works and Transport HE Sun Chanthol.

The main purpose of the meeting was to review the definition of each article and amend them if necessary to fill all possible loopholes.

According to HE Sun Chanthol, the law aims to effectively manage all ports in Cambodia, promote national and international logistic and trade systems, and to support national economic development.

HE Chanthol also urged the working group to crosscheck the content between this draft and other related laws in Cambodia and other countries, to ensure that it does not violate any international regulations.

As of today, Cambodia has a total of 27 seaports and 78 river ports nationwide.
