New Battambang Solar Power Station Over 90% Complete Receives Additional US$45-million in Funding

Chinese firm Risen Energy has injected an additional US$45-million funding into the new 73-megawatt Battambang power plant project, while the construction of the plant is over 90% complete.

Risen Energy has received this additional funding in form of debt from DEG and ICCF (The Interact Climate Change Facility, the European Investment Bank, and eleven European Development Finance Institutions).

The success in achieving financing for the Cambodian project represents Risen Energy’s new phase in the Cambodian market as well as a milestone in the overseas markets, the firm said.

Risen Energy’s solar project is among four solar projects that the Cambodian government approved last year.

HE Victor Jona, director-general of Energy at Ministry of Mines and Energy, said recently that the solar projects will start generating power and link to the grid early next year under the purchase agreement with EDC, US$0.076 per kWh.
