New Standardised Water Treatment Plant Officially Launched in Battambang Province

A new standardised Australian-funded clean water treatment system located in Prek Chik commune, Rukkiri district in Battambang province, was officially launched on 1 December, under the presence of Minister of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation HE Cham Prasidh and Australian Ambassador HE Pablo Kang.

The project was built by an Australian private firm We Venture with Australian grant aid through the 3i program for the development of Cambodia’s clean water supply sector.

This plant uses Ultra Filtration Membrane technology in the treatment procedure to ensure high-quality water production.

Australian Ambassador to Cambodia HE Pablo Kang expressed his optimism on this achievement, hoping the plant will help thousands of locals access clean water.

He added that Australia will continue to support Cambodia’s development, especially with the new upcoming program known as Cambodia-Australian Partnership for Resilient Economic Development (CAP-RED), which is scheduled to begin in 2022.

Minister of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation HE Cham Prasidh in response also thanked the Australian Government for always supporting Cambodia’s development.

The minister also requested that the General Department of Water conduct further studies with the help of the 3i Program experts to better understand the effectiveness of this system for long-term operation.
