PM Hun Sen: China Contributes Importantly to Developing Transport Infrastructure & Power

Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen said that China is the major contributor to the development of transport infrastructure and the electricity sector in Cambodia.

Speaking at the Forum on Future of Asia held on 27 May, Samdech Techo Hun Sen said that more than 3,000 km of roads and large-scale bridges have​ been built under Chinese financial support.

Chinese-invested hydropower plants have played a crucial role in securing electricity security in the kingdom, he said.

“Roads stretching over 3,000 to 4,000 km have been built under Chinese support. If we did not receive a budget from China, what do we have for building? Yet, the expressway and other investments –hydropower dams, if we don’t have investment from China, where we have power for consumption,” the Prime Minister said.

Responding to alleged questions of Cambodia only welcoming only Chinese investments, the premier said that Cambodia welcomes all investors who wish to invest in transport infrastructure and other sectors in Cambodia from other countries.
