Preah Monivong Flyover Fast-Tracks for Early 2024 Debut, Expanding Phnom Penh’s Skyway Landscape

The construction of the Preah Monivong flyover, a project valued at over US$36.7 million, is slated to reach its first-phase completion and become operational ahead of schedule. Instead of the initially planned date of August 2024, this essential infrastructure is now projected to be available for public use before the Khmer New Year in 2024, offering a gift of enhanced connectivity to the people of Phnom Penh.

HE Khuong Sreng, Governor of Phnom Penh, took to Facebook on 27 October to announce that the flyover’s second phase is also advancing at an impressive pace. The accelerated timeline predicts its completion ahead of schedule, aiming for a debut prior to the traditional New Year celebrations in 2025, providing the city with a well-timed New Year’s gift that promises to significantly improve traffic flow.

Governor Sreng recognized the minor inconveniences caused by construction activities and asked for understanding from the people.

“During this time, I would like to ask for patience and understanding from the people passing through the construction site, which may cause disruption from the construction site under construction,” he said.

The Preah Monivong flyover project embarked on its construction journey on 31 August 2022. Spearheaded by the Overseas Cambodian Investment Corporation (OCIC), this remarkable infrastructure endeavor was initially planned to span 36 months. OCIC’s swift progress is now set to bring forth a new era of transportation in Phnom Penh. (Read more)
