Ratanakkiri and Mondulkiri Provinces Draw Attention from Chinese Investors

In a significant development for Cambodia’s agricultural sector, China’s Zhongjiao Tongli has announced its plans to expand investment in cultivating bananas and mangoes across Ratanakkiri and Mondulkiri provinces. This announcement follows a key meeting between Prime Minister Hun Manet and company President Mr. Zhongdi Sun, held on November 6, 2024, in Kunming, Yunnan Province, China.

During the meeting, Mr. Sun highlighted Zhongjiao Tongli’s commitment to commercial agriculture, clean energy, and intelligent transportation systems, focusing on enhancing agricultural productivity in Cambodia. The company, which is headquartered in Xi’an, has already made strides in the local market and aims to bolster its investment efforts in Ratanakkiri and Mondulkiri.

Acknowledging the company’s initiative, Prime Minister Hun Manet praised the ongoing investments and reiterated the Royal Government’s commitment to supporting the agricultural sector. He emphasized that the government prioritizes agriculture and will continue encouraging further investments, inviting companies to collaborate with the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, and the Development Council of Cambodia.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister confirmed that new policies to encourage investment in the northeastern provinces will soon be introduced. This initiative allows Zhongjiao Tongli and other potential investors to explore additional regional opportunities, further enhancing Cambodia’s agricultural landscape.

As interest grows from international investors, the potential of Ratanakkiri and Mondulkiri provinces stands to contribute significantly to the country’s economic development and agricultural advancement.
