Samdech Hun Sen Abandons Plan to Create Two More Provinces

Samdech Prime Minister Hun Sen has abandoned the plan proposed by the Ministry of Interior after the general election to create two more provinces, according to a live video on Samdech’s Facebook page.

On 5 October, 2018, Samdech Hun Seno rdered Council of Ministers officials to issue a government letter announcingthe end of the feasibility study regarding the creation of two more administrative areas cut out from Kandal and Mondulkiri provinces.

“Enough, interior [the Ministry of Interior] shutdown all computers, do not work anymore today, and the Council of Ministers take my announcement today to issue a government announcement to completely end this” SamdechTecho Hun Sen said.

According to Samdech, the announcement was made after some officials have been fighting to be the governors of the new provinces, while some unethical people have even been matching others to pay money to each other.

The statement was made during a celebration of Teacher’s Day held at the National Institute of Education on 5 October, 2018.
