Samdech Techo Pushes for Expedited Construction of NR No. 78.5 connecting Ratanakkiri to the Triangle Area

Samdech Techo Hun Sen, President of the Senate of Cambodia, has urged the new government to expedite the construction of NR No. 78.5, connecting Ratanakkiri Province and Banlung City to the “tail of the dragon” (Angle 3) with a length of over 166 kilometres.

In a special message addressing the CLV development triangle (Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam) on 23 July 2024, Samdech Techo Hun Sen expressed his desire to see this crucial road built as soon as possible, emphasising its importance in enhancing connectivity and boosting economic development.

The proposed road will span from Banlung City through Ta Veng District to Kantuy Neak, covering a distance of more than 166 kilometres and a width of 9 metres. The Cambodian government is currently working to secure the necessary funds for this significant infrastructure project.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen also recalled the assistance provided by the Royal Government of Vietnam in constructing NR 78, which connects Oyadao to Banlung. This international gateway has facilitated the export of goods from Cambodia to Vietnam, significantly reducing shipping distances and costs.
