TH Automotive Manufacturing Prepares Official Launch of Dual-Brand GAC and Chevrolet Assembly Plant in Cambodia

The newly completed facility enters preliminary operations with 250 skilled local technicians while aiming to integrate domestic component suppliers

Cambodia’s domestic automotive manufacturing sector is preparing for a major expansion as TH Automotive Manufacturing Co., Ltd. moves to officially inaugurate its multi-brand vehicle assembly plant later in 2026. The upcoming launch was announced during a working discussion on August 18, 2026, between Prime Minister Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet and Norm Tong, Chairman of the Board of Directors of TH Automotive Manufacturing Co., Ltd., at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh.

Highlighting the company’s business development trajectory, Chairman Norm Tong reported that TH Automotive Manufacturing holds exclusive distribution rights for both Chinese automaker GAC (Guangzhou Automobile Group) and American brand Chevrolet in the Kingdom. To capitalize on growing domestic demand and align with national industrial policies, the company expanded its investment to construct a dedicated assembly plant capable of producing models for both international brands. Construction of the manufacturing complex has been completed, and the facility recently commenced preliminary trial operations.

The newly built facility currently employs approximately 250 local staff members, all of whom have undergone specialized technical training to ensure that locally assembled vehicles meet strict global quality and safety standards while remaining affordable for Cambodian consumers. During the meeting, Norm Tong extended a formal invitation to Prime Minister Hun Manet to preside over the facility’s official grand opening ceremony at an appropriate date in 2026.

In response, Prime Minister Hun Manet commended TH Automotive Manufacturing for its continuous investment expansion, emphasizing that local assembly projects play a critical role in driving job creation, transferring technical expertise to the domestic workforce, and offering consumers safe, high-quality, and reasonably priced vehicles. To further amplify the economic impact of the project, the Prime Minister encouraged the company to explore strategic partnerships with domestic enterprises and local workshops to supply vehicle interior components and equipment, thereby building stronger supply chain linkages and adding higher value to the national economy.
