Thailand Declares No Charge for Vehicles Crossing Cambodia-Thailand Friendship Bridge

Thailand will maintain a no-charge policy for vehicles passing through the Cambodia-Thailand Friendship Bridge (Stung Bot-Bang Nang Ieng) at the request of the Cambodian government. This decision was confirmed during a bilateral meeting via video conference on 18 June 2024, attended by HE Peng Po, Minister of Public Works and Transport of Cambodia, and HE Suriya Jungrungreangkit, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport of Thailand.

The Thai side assured the Cambodian delegation that the policy of no charges for vehicles crossing the Friendship Bridge would remain in place for the foreseeable future, addressing Cambodia’s request. The meeting also included discussions on the management, maintenance, and use of the bridge, with both sides agreeing to plan a future meeting to further bilateral transport cooperation and visit the international border crossing at Stung Bot-Banang Ieng.

The Cambodia-Thailand International Border Gate (Stung Bot-Ban Nong Ean) was built with a concessional loan of approximately US$26.5 million, a project initiated in September 2023. (Read more)

The construction of the border gate has been completed and is ready for inauguration, aimed at enhancing trade and reducing congestion at the border checkpoints between the two countries. This initiative underscores the commitment of both governments to foster stronger economic ties and improve infrastructure for better connectivity and trade facilitation  (Read more).
