Cambodian Gov’t to Cease Border Infrastructure Fund Donations by 31 October After Raising Over USD 26m

The Cambodian government has announced that it will stop accepting donations for its Border Infrastructure Fund after raising over USD 26.33 million from nearly 700,000 donors to support the construction of a border ring road.

The funding effort, which aims to enhance border infrastructure and strengthen national development, will officially conclude on 31 October 2024, according to a statement released by the Cabinet of Samdech Thibodi Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia, on 20 October 2024.

Launched by Samdech PM Hun Manet on 22 August 2024, the Border Infrastructure Fund invites contributions from Cambodians domestically and abroad, fostering national unity and supporting the government’s efforts in defense and border area development. The initiative has seen widespread public support, with citizens eagerly participating in a collective effort to maintain territorial integrity and improve the country’s infrastructure.
