The gov’t Introduces Five Urgent Measures to Tackle Factory Challenges Amid Hot Weather

The Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training (MLVT) has rolled out five immediate measures aimed at addressing challenges faced by factories during hot weather conditions. This announcement was made on April 9, 2024.

The measures prescribed by the Ministry include:

1. Ensuring proper ventilation by opening doors and windows or installing fans within the workplace.
2. Increasing the provision of clean drinking water to workers, with a recommendation for individuals to consume at least 2 litres of water daily, even if not feeling thirsty.
3. Implementing regular spraying of building roofs at least twice a day and undertaking necessary steps to reduce heat levels promptly.
4. Conducting inspections of all ventilation systems to ensure optimal functionality, with systems operational at least one hour before workers enter the premises.
5. Assigning staff to regularly monitor workplace thermometers.

The Ministry urges strict adherence to these guidelines by all factory owners and directors to ensure the well-being and safety of workers.

As of May 2023, the MLVT oversees 17,102 registered enterprises and economic establishments, employing a total of 1.5 million workers. (Read more)
