Gov’t Restricts Casino Operations in Kep & Kampot, Allowing Exceptions in Two Areas

The Cambodian government has officially restricted casino operations in Kep and Kampot provinces to only two designated areas: Bokor Mountain and Prek Chak. This decision is outlined in Sub-Decree No. 110 dated 11 June 2024.

The decision aims to foster diversified investment in sectors such as hotels and hospitality, manufacturing, agro-industry, trade, and special economic zones while promoting cultural and religious preservation and ensuring better security and order in tourist areas.

PM Samdech Hun Manet has also advised casino investors to establish their businesses at border locations and in Sihanoukville, rather than in Kep and Kampot. This initiative is part of a broader effort to promote the establishment of agro-industrial economic zones in these provinces, supporting sustainable development and economic diversification.
