Three Ministries & Private Sector Collaborate for Boosting Tourist Port Potential

The Ministry of Economy and Finance, in partnership with the Ministry of Public Works and Transport and the Ministry of Tourism, is set to orchestrate a pivotal consultative workshop under the theme “Operation and Maintenance(O&M) under the Public-Private Partnership Mechanism.” The event is scheduled for 8:30 am on 17 August 2023 at Hyatt Regency Hotel Phnom Penh, with a simultaneous virtual attendance option.

This strategic workshop will convene an esteemed audience, including a diverse spectrum of private sector entities ranging from local and regional tourism port operators to international shipping companies and private investment firms. The primary objective is to collectively deliberate upon the Kampot tourism port development initiative, a move designed to not only catalyze the coastal tourism sector in Kampot and Kep but also establish seamless connections between Cambodia’s mainland and the alluring Koh Tral and the surrounding archipelago.

The distinguished consultation workshop will be presided over by HE Om Mak Thearith, Director General of Public-Private Partnership at the Ministry of Economy and Finance. As a prelude to the session, attendees can anticipate a comprehensive dissemination of project particulars, market insights, technical requisites, operational prerequisites, bidding conditions, and a meticulous timeline that frames the development trajectory of the Kampot Tourism Port project.

Private companies and visionary investors eager to partake in this pivotal workshop are encouraged to register their participation via Mr. Lim Chhavitvitou, reachable at chharitvitou.lim@gmail.com or by phone at 077 877 533.

Construction of the Kampot Provincial Tourism Port was successfully concluded on 30 June 2022. With an impressive total construction outlay of approximately US$9.27 million, this transformative project was made possible through a collaborative budget contribution shared between the Asian Development Bank and the Royal Government of Cambodia.
